About

Carl fell in love with performing for children the first time he played music for his daughter’s preschool class. Since then, he has written dozens of songs, and the inspiration just keeps coming! Carl learned to play guitar at 14 years old and started writing songs shortly after; music has always been a big part of his life. After 15 years in a career as a fish biologist, Carl chose to be a stay at home dad while supporting his wife Sarah's career as a hospice nurse. Being a dad has brought him the greatest joy! His two children, Hazel and Carver, are his biggest inspirations and many of his song topics were suggested or inspired by them. They have become collaborators and have also started performing live with him. Carl worked as a teacher for a couple years at Mistwood Montessori School where his journey playing music for kids began. He is currently taking early childhood education classes at College of the Redwoods, and focusing on his music and family life. You'll find him leading circle time and performing live whenever he gets an invite, such as at the local libraries, playgroups, and festivals. He often volunteers and performs for his children's classrooms throughout the school year. In his spare time, Carl loves to go surfing, fishing, paddle boarding, and camping with his family. At home you can find him in his wood shop or out in the garden with his many pets. Carl is a native to the Pacific Northwest and currently lives in Humboldt County, CA.
